Serve at Saint Andrew

We're glad you're here

Together, we worship joyfully, server generously, love unconditionally, and spread God's grace to all.

Q

"For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ." — 1 Corinthians 12:12

At Saint Andrew, we believe that service is a vital expression of our faith and a powerful way to build a vibrant, welcoming community. By sharing our unique gifts and time, we do more than simply fill roles; we actively participate in God’s work, nurturing both our own spiritual growth and the lives of those around us. We invite you to explore the many opportunities to get involved, knowing that every contribution plays an essential part in our shared ministry.

Serve in Worship

There are many ways to serve before, during, and after worship services. Read brief descriptions below and fill out the Time and Talent form to connect directly with volunteer and staff leaders of specific ministries or groups, or immediately connect to opportunities to serve.

Music

Chancel Choir

Rehearsals: most Wednesdays in the Sanctuary, September-May, 6:30-8:00 pm
Directed by Joel Freiberg
The Chancel Choir regularly nurtures spiritual growth in the life of all who witness God’s Word illuminated through music, sharing music in worship at 8:00 am approximately 2-3 times a month.

Handbell Choir

Rehearsals: most Wednesdays in the Sanctuary, September-May, 5:15-6:15 pm
Directed by Jonathan Smith
Musicians of all ages and levels of experience join in making music together through Handbell Choir. The Handbell Choir shares music in worship at 8:00 am about twice a month.

Worship Team

Rehearsals: occur weekly on Monday evenings for musicians scheduled to serve
The Worship Team weekly shares music at the 10:00 am Modern Worship service, and brings joy and energy through music from today’s leading Christian songwriters — lifting hearts and stirring faith. Members express their faith through music by singing and playing a variety of instruments, including acoustic and electric guitar, piano, keyboard/synthesizer, electric bass, electronic drum set, and more.

Communion

Altar Guild

Altar Guild sets and prepares the Communion table for worship services. This includes baking bread, preparing the wine and juice, maintaining linens, and other duties that allow the church to fully participate in the Holy Sacrament of Communion.

Communion Server

Communion Servers serve Communion in worship, sharing the body and blood of Christ with the church community. Scheduled servers weekly invite and equip another person to serve with them, expanding the capacity of Communion servers, and inviting more into sharing the Holy Sacrament of Communion with our neighbors.

At Home Communion Server

At Home Communion Servers share the Holy Sacrament of Communion with those who cannot attend worship in person.

Communion Cleanup (after 10:00am service)

Communion Cleanup helpers ensure that all Communion glasses and trays are properly cleaned and ready for future worship services.

Fellowship

Coffee and Cookie Host

Coffee and Cookie hosts help ensure all who participate in Fellowship before or after worship can enjoy a coffee or cookie. Periodically, these hosts help prepare other treats throughout the year.

Hospitality

Greeter

Greeters are typically the first face seen before a service. They open doors and welcome folks inside to Saint Andrew.

Parking Lot Greeter

Parking Lot Greeters assist in greeting folks outside, as well as helping with traffic flow for holiday worship services.

Usher

Ushers hand out bulletins, collect the Offering, dismiss the congregation for Communion, and overall, help assist the community in worshiping together well.

Worship and Liturgical Support

Assisting Minister (8:00am)

Assisting Ministers help lead worship through scripture, prayers, and assist serving Communion.

Reader (10:00am)

Readers share scripture readings with the congregation at the Modern worship service.

Stream Team

Stream Team helps share the worship service beyond the walls of the church and encourages participation for all through slide transitions. Volunteers of all ages and experience levels welcome.

Soundboard Operator

Soundboard Operators help ensure that a proper balance is achieved between our instruments and vocalists in the Worship Team, as well as monitor other microphones and the overall audio mix for worship in person and online.

We'd love to connect with you
