Q

This is Christ's church. There is a place for you here.

Saint Andrew Lutheran Church, located on the north side of Rib Mountain, serves the wider community of the Wausau area as a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. When people are baptized at Saint Andrew the congregation boldly proclaims to them, “You belong to Christ in whom you have been baptized.” Saint Andrew Lutheran Church is a gathering of God’s people who belong to Christ.

Worship Times

Traditional
Sunday 8:00 am | Thursday 12:15 pm

Time-honored hymns and liturgy give these services a strong sense of tradition. Our traditional service features vibrant, piano-based music with a wide variety of familiar hymns, liturgical songs, and anthems. Our 8:00 am service is also supported by our chancel choir and handbell choir.

Modern
Sunday 10:00 am

Our worship band brings joy and energy through music from today’s leading Christian songwriters — lifting hearts and stirring faith. The format may feel fresh, but the message of Jesus’ unchanging love remains the same.

Lead Pastor

Pastor Jack Busche, a Stratford native, attended Princeton University and Luther Seminary. He interned at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Grand Marais, MN. After graduating with his MDiv in June 2021, six days later, he married his best friend Sydney. In August 2021, Jack began his first call at Grace Lutheran Church in Gwinn, MI. They got their yellow lab, Annie, that fall, and welcomed their daughter, Kit, in December 2024. They enjoy hiking and camping as a family. They are looking forward to being closer to both family and many of their friends in the area and getting to know his Saint Andrew family as he begins his ministry with us!

History

Saint Andrew began as a mission congregation of the Lutheran Church in America (LCA) in 1980. Initially, worship services were held at Rib Mountain Elementary School (1980-1981) and St. Matthew’s Catholic Church School (1982-1984) before moving to the present location on the north side of Rib Mountain. Comprised of people from various faith backgrounds, Saint Andrew is a moderate Lutheran expression of the church and is uniquely made up of people from all walks of life. Because of this, many have experienced a sense of comfort and welcome here.

Guided by its mission to be open to all people, the ministry and the congregation has served and continues to serve the greater Wausau area and community. The chronological history of Saint Andrew gives you a glimpse of significant events and occasions that have shaped the life and ministry of Saint Andrew.

As the world around us continues to change, we move forward as the body of Christ in this place, shaped by the understanding that the Holy Spirit, “calls, gathers enlightens and sanctifies the whole Christian church on earth and keeps it united with Jesus Christ in the one true faith.” (Luther’s Small Catechism)
